Nantucket Elementary School PTA
My name is Samantha Weaver and I am running for President of the PTA. My daughter Abigail is a 4th grader here at Nantucket Elementary and I have been an active member of the PTA, serving as President for the past 3 years. I bring over a decade of experience as an officer for non-profit organizations with a proven track record of creative thinking, social activity organization and fiscal responsibility. I believe that every parent, teacher and child brings unique knowledge, experience and attributes to our school and as President, I will continue to work to encourage school-wide participation in our shared goal of making Nantucket Elementary the very best place to learn.
The spirit wear and school kits committee runs both drives. Volunteers will assist with selecting vendors and options available for sale, collect payments, and distribute purchases.
The communication lead works with all committee leads and the executive board to update Facebook, Twitter and our website. The communication lead is responsible for creating and emailing our bi-weekly newsletter.
The yearbook committee designs and arranges the sale of the yearbook. Volunteers will assist with gathering pictures from parents, help design the year book and organize the sale and distribution of yearbooks.
The hospitality committee has the very enjoyable task of showing appreciation and support for our wonderful faculty and staff. The committee provides meals and small gifts throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to donate and/or shop for food and set-up and clean up from events.
The Nantucket PTA must operate within the bounds of the MD PTA Bylaws, which have very specific guidelines for both General Membership Meetings and Elections. These bylaws state that general membership meetings and elections cannot be conducted electronically. Also, until which time we can hold an in person general membership meeting and election, the currently elected PTA Executive board will continue in their roles.
At our February General Membership meeting we solicited nominations for the 20/21 executive board. The nominations listed below. As you may have noticed, the only nominations received to date, are those of the current board members, in their current positions. Nominations are still open, and an election will need to be held to elect the board members for the 20/21 school year. However, please know the current board is ready and prepared to lead the PTA in our current capacity for as long as needed.
The PTA is working with the school to keep you updated and informed. Please email us at NantucketElementaryPTA@gmail.com if you have any questions.
