About
the Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
The PTA is the
largest volunteer child advocacy association in the nation and works to remind
our country of its obligations to children and provides parents and families
with a powerful voice to speak on behalf of every child while providing the
best tools for parents to help their children be successful students.
PTA does not act
alone. Working in cooperation with many national education, health, safety, and
child advocacy groups and federal agencies, the national PTA organization
collaborates on projects that benefit children and that bring valuable
resources to its members.
Membership is open to anyone who
believes in the mission and purposes of Parent Teacher Association. Individual
members may belong to any number of PTAs and pay dues in each. Every person who
joins a local PTA automatically becomes a member of both the state and national
PTAs.
Together we are a powerful voice
for children. With your help, we can continue to work toward PTA's goal of a
quality education and nurturing environment for every child.

The number one reason to join the Nantucket
Elementary School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is to benefit your
child. In doing so, you also help our school. But there are many more
advantages. Here are just a few:
Get Connected. There’s no better way to know what’s
happening in our school.
Discover Great Resources. The PTA offers a variety of programs
designed for parents as well as students.
Tap into a Network. Parenting is not easy - it helps to share
ideas, concerns and experiences with other parents and educators in the
community. PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and
teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind.
Watch Yourself Grow. By volunteering with our PTA, you gain
valuable experiences. It’s an opportunity to put your skills and hobbies
to good use for a good cause—your child and all children in the community.
Speak Up. Because the PTA is a forum for exchanging
ideas, you are encouraged to make suggestions. PTA can be a way for you to more
effectively suggest change at our school.
Witness Improvement. By getting involved at your child’s school
you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Our PTA
plays an important role in fundraising to provide fund school assemblies,
curriculum-based programs and social events – all vital to a school’s success.
Be A Leader. By becoming a PTA leader, you’ll be
demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.
Member Benefits: As part of the National PTA, you’re entitled to a variety of exclusive
membership benefits including parenting resources and discounts at national
retailers like Barnes & Noble and service providers like Southwest
Airlines. Visit www.pta.org to learn more!
